Mr.
Herb & Mrs. Gloria Spivack
Mr. Herb Spivack was born in Boston, Massachusetts, where
he attended the English High School. He then attended
MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he received a joint
Bachelors/Masters degree in Chemical Engineering from
MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mrs. Gloria (Richmond)
Spivack, also of Boston, attended the Girls’ Latin
Middle School and Boston University School of Music under
the tutorage of Mr. Jules Wolfers, where she trained to
become a concert pianist. Mr. and Mrs. Spivack were married
in 1951 and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
After Mr. Spivack served for two years in the army, he
and his wife moved to the Providence area, where he worked
as Research Director of the Aerovox Company. Shortly thereafter,
he founded Metachem Resins Corporation, the Mereco Products
Division. This year, the company celebrated its 50th anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Spivack have both served on a lengthy list
of local and national organizations. In addition, Mr.
Spivack has published many important publications for
the chemical industry. For many years, the Spivack family
has been most supportive of Providence Hebrew Day School,
where their children graduated.
